In August of 2021, Trinity Investors (formerly Trinity Private Equity Group), partnered with Akoya Capital Partners for the third time to acquire a market-leading, full-service plastics compounding company, Star Plastics. By acquiring Star, Akoya is commencing a buy and build investment strategy to create an industry leading plastics compounding platform.
Akoya’s team, which includes Managing Director Bob May, has deep industry experience, subject matter expertise and a proven history of success in the plastics compounding industry. Mr. May will serve as Executive Chair on the Board of Directors post-close and be responsible for implementing Akoya’s value creation plan and leading the execution the buy and build strategy. Star has an experienced and cohesive in place management team that has been with the company for 20+ years and holds extensive plastics industry and custom compounding experience. Akoya is leading the process of replacing the current CEO with a highly experienced industry leader that has numerous years of plastics industry experience.
